We had a fabulous Open Mic on December 30 , 2012 at the Dog-Eared Pages Used Books store. Thank you so much Melanie and Thom for always being so hospitable!! A special Thank you to Kim “Max” White and Melanie Tighe for organizing our open mic and curating the art display. Many thanks to everyone who joined us and shared their passion and inspirations with us. A huge thank you to our artist of the month - Baron Dixon. Baron’s "Catastic" art works will be on display for the month of January. All are invited to visit and check out the exhibit. A huge thank you to a special musical performance by B Thomas Cooper. MULTI-CULTURAL JAMZ 2012 “UNITY IN OUR COMMUNITY 2012” - 11/24/2012

Island Breeze Entertainment and American Legion "Thunderbirds" Post #41 in participation with the Arizona Consortium for the Arts Charity organized the event for the community. The past Post Commander and Public Relations Officer - Robert P. Hernandez opened the event with the Pledge of Allegiance and welcomed everyone. Also, the current Commander, Alfonso Aranda welcomed everyone. Robert Hernandez also spoke about the History of the Legion. The event included representation by Multiple cultures and also various vendors. Everyone enjoyed different games, won prizes, experienced live entertainment, participated in raffles, participated in arts and crafts, and competed in the Coconut Olympics. A huge thank you to all who joined us. A special Thank you to all the performers: Chamorritas – Latte Girls; Glenn David Taylor - Singer/Musician; Classical Pianist - Kristen Jessica Smith; Clean Comedy by Keith Ellis; Kandahar – Colleen O'Donnell Pierce– Belly Dancer; Tammy Z - Tammy Zappier – Singer/Musician; Jonathan Gabriell – Singer/Musician and singer/musicians - Johny Norman and Greg Reyes. Annual Fall Festival of the Arts - A Huge Success

On Sunday, October 28, the Arizona Consortium for the Arts celebrated our 5th Anniversary at the Annual Fall Festival of the Arts. We are grateful to the Arizona Historical Society Museum at Papago Park for collaborating with us and providing the spacious courtyard for the event. Thank you to the museum's Director, Kyle Mckoy and Seth Willey. It was truly a great day! Many thanks to all the talented musicians, singers, dancers, artists, artisans, vendors, community organizations and children's activities stations. The festival attendees were treated to an amazing array of music, dance and cultural presentations, exquisite works by local artists and artisans, readings from the UNSTRUNG Poetry Magazine, live painters - Jim Covarrubias and Marjory Boyer, face painting by Debra Lee Murrow and bracelet making by Anna Yakupovich. A huge thank you to Keiko Conn and the Touch of Creation Cultural Events for adding fun, joy and smiles to our event. There was a costume contest and presentations by LRS Tokyo Girls and Guys and Tokyo Girl Miss Miki Suehio , the Sushi Man and the Fox . Thank you to the masterful performances by the Maestro Zhanna Tevan’s Arizona Classical Kids piano students and by Maestro Laima Howe’s piano students. Everyone was mesmerized by the Japanese swordsmanship demonstration Iaido by the Touch of Creation Cultural Events. Everyone enjoyed the performances by the amazing singer Laurie Fagen, Odyssey Triball Dance Group, singer/musician and artist Jonathan Gabriel, a beautiful performance by Kandahar- Colleen O'Donnell Pierce, readers from the USTRUNG Magazine and thekards. The audience was dancing and singing along with the performers. The delicious celebration cakes were donated by Richard and Nicholas. We celebrated in grand style. Thank you to all the community organizations: Kerr Cultural Center, Phoenix Conservatory of Music, Red Cross, Island Breeze, Radio Phoenix - The Arizona Community Media Foundation, Local First Arizona, Ear Candy Charity, Sketch Art by Cj Heu, COLORME' Art Spa, Touch of Creation Cultural Events, Arizona Asian American Association and Brokers for Charity. A special thank you to thekards for their amazing performance! Thank you to Jessica Aikin and the Aikin family, thekards families and thekards for donating their sound equipment and to Jared and Lucas for helping all the performers with the sound. A huge thank you to Rick and Rebecca Dyer, Nicholas Baio, Scott Balthasar, Jonathan Gabriel, Jim Thornton, Anne Wallace, Ben Kern, Bobby Harr, Yakupovich Family, Steven Sable, Rick Cibik, Jacque Personne Rice, Janae Jaynes-Learned; Cj Heru, Mark Zemnick, Lori Landis, Cj Rider, Stacey Bailey, Bonnie Gibbs, Denise Landis, Jason Lee Davis, Victor Aronow, Patricia Jensen, Mari Dillard, Holly Parsons, Malayev Family, Mastov Family, Colleen O'Donnell Pierce, Elizabeth Makela, Melissa Isom, Gabriel Bey and Warren Chu of AZ Culture and many other volunteers who helped us in the planning of the event, helped promote and advertise the event, saw the need and helped during the event and everyone who helped with set up and tear down. Lunch was provided by Papa John’s Pizza. Legends Cadillac and Brokers for Charity donated water and Yelp Phoenix donated Fans. We are 5 years old. We will celebrate our consortium’s 5th anniversary On Sunday, October 28 at our Consortium’s Annual Fall Festival of the Arts. It will be at the Arizona Historical Society Museum at Papago Park from noon - 4pm. The festival will be outside in the beautiful courtyard area of the museum. Performances by local artists in all genres, cultural representations, readings from the UNSRTUNG and a special performance by thekards! A Call to Poets for the Inaugural issue of Unstrung

The Fourth Annual Blue Guitar Spring Festival of the Arts was held at the Desert Ridge Marketplace on March 25, 2012. The Festival featured music, dance, an art activity and readings of literary works. A huge thank you to all the amazing performers who shared their talents with the community and made the festival a smash hit with attendees! We had a fabulous Open Mic on March 18!

We volunteered at the AZ Senior Expo on March 17 at the Mesa Convention Center. Thank you to Gaby Pulido for providing an exhibit booth for our consortium. Many thanks to Laurie Fagen, Clifton L. Many thanks to Hula’s Modern Tiki restaurant for selecting our consortium to be the recipients of the Mahalo Mondays Charitable Giving Program in February. We had a great time! A huge thank you to the museum's director, Kyle Mckoy and our development advisor, Anne Wallace for securing the collaboration and the space for us.
